Desde hace diez años, la Fundación Santander, en colaboración con Open Studio, ha apoyado la producción artística premiando a diez jóvenes artistas emergentes españoles en los inicios de sus carreras. Tras una década de convocatorias, el programa llega a su fin con una exposición titulada Un tiempo elástico, que reúne en un mismo espacio las diez propuestas artísticas, comisariadas por Beatriz Alonso.
La exposición tiene lugar en una amplia sala del Museo del Traje, un edificio diseñado en 1969 por Ángel Díaz Domínguez y Jaime López de Asiaín. Su planta flexible y transformable, abierta a los jardines exteriores gracias a un perímetro acristalado, ofrece un marco particular para esta muestra.
Nuestra propuesta busca descomponer la tradicional caja blanca museística en una línea que se dobla, se suaviza y se tuerce dentro del espacio ortogonal. Este pliegue genera espacios diferenciados y singulares dentro de la planta reticular, proporcionando a cada artista y obra un lugar propio.
La sala cuenta con un sistema de tabiques móviles reutilizables, una solución sostenible que permite adaptar el espacio a cada exposición, reduciendo el uso de materiales y fomentando su nuevo uso. Proponemos ordenar el catálogo existente, trazando con estos elementos la nueva curva y ampliándolo con cuatro nuevas piezas: tres umbrales y una ventana, que permiten atravesar y cruzar esta línea de diez años en el tiempo.
For the past ten years, the Santander Foundation, in collaboration with Open Studio, has supported artistic production by awarding ten young emerging Spanish artists at the beginning of their careers. After a decade of calls, the program comes to an end with an exhibition titled Un tiempo Elástico (An Elastic Time), which brings together in one space the ten artistic proposals, curated by Beatriz Alonso.
The exhibition takes place in a spacious hall of the Museo del Traje, a building designed in 1969 by Ángel Díaz Domínguez and Jaime López de Asiaín. Its flexible and adaptable floor plan, open to the surrounding gardens through a glass perimeter, provides a unique setting for this exhibition.
Our proposal aims to break down the traditional museum white box into a line that bends, softens, and twists within the orthogonal space. This fold creates distinct and unique spaces within the grid-like floor plan, giving each artist and artwork its own place.
The hall features a system of reusable movable partitions, a sustainable solution that allows the space to be adapted for each exhibition, reducing material use and promoting reuse. We propose organizing the existing catalog by tracing this new curve with these elements and expanding it with four new pieces: three thresholds and a window, allowing visitors to traverse and cross this ten-year timeline.
